The following contain administrative support for the current
round of revisions to the C language. The working name for this
revision round is C9X.
Revision-guidelines - Proposal form and guidelines for C9X.
Status.txt.gz - Current status of C9X proposals.
The following directories contain ongoing items being considered
as possible additions to the C language during the current round of
revisions.
aliasing - Restricted Pointers.
bool - A Boolean type for C.
complex - Complex C Extensions (a complex type for C).
compound-literals - Compound Literals.
double-slash-comments - C++ style comments for C.
dsp-c - Digital Signal Processing extensions for C.
extended-characters - Named character constants.
extended-initializers - Designated Initializers (and eventually
Initializer Repeat Counts).
extended-integers - Integers of sizes other than char,
short, int, long.
feature-removal - Removal of features from the C language.
floating-point - Floating Point C Extensions.
func - A string similar to __FILE__ and __LINE__.
misc - Miscellaneous proposals.
pragma - A new form of pragma usable in macros.
signed-int-division - Making division well-defined in C.
variable-length-arrays - Adding variable length arrays to C.
The following filename extensions are used.

.fm4 Proprietary Framemaker 4.0 format
.gz compressed with GNU zip (ftpable from prep.ai.mit.edu)
.latex LaTeX format
.mm Troff/Groff mm macros format
.ms Troff/Groff ms macros format
.pdf Proprietary PDF format
.ps PostScript format
.tar Tar format (originally Unix, now available universally)
.txt ASCII text
.w5m Proprietary Microsoft Word 5.1 for Macintosh format
To conserve space and network bandwidth, almost all files have
been compressed with GNU zip (gzip), so remember to set your ftp
transfer mode to binary for these. If you do not have GNU zip, you
can ftp the latest version from prep.ai.mit.edu or ftp.uu.net. It is
available for Unix, DOS, and Macintosh systems.
