Here is a summary of projects completed and published as amendments since the last SC2 plenary in April 2006:
SC2/WG2 held three meetings since the last SC2 plenary; one in October 2008 in Hong Kong, China, one in April 2009 in Dublin, Ireland, and one in Tokyo, Japan in October 2009.
Published ISO/IEC 10646:2003 Amendment 4 on 2008-07-01 which includes Lanna, Cham, Game Tiles, and other characters
Published Amendment 5 of ISO/IEC 10646: 2003 on 2008-12-01 which includes Tai Tham, Tai Viet, Avestan, Egyptian Hieroglyphs, CJK Unified Ideographs Extension C, and other characters
Processed Amendment 6 as a FDAM; it has been published by ITTF.
Processed Amendment 7 as an FPDAM and approved to start FDAM ballot.
Processed Amendment 8 as a PDAM and approved to start FPDAM ballot.
Processed CD for the next edition of ISO/IEC 2nd edition and approved for FCD ballot with an an adjusted due dates for FDIS ballot of July 2010. It includes all amendments 1 - 8 of ISO/IEC 10646:2003.

Other Achievements:
Approve appointment of the new Rapporteur of the IRG Dr. Lu Qin for a new term that ends at the next SC2 plenary meeting.
Approve the resolutions of meeting 55 in Tokyo in October 2009-10-26/30
Request approval to change the title of the FCD to “Universal Character Set” and taking out the words “Multiple-Octet” and forward such request to JTC1 for their approval, if necessary.
Approve future meetings of SC2/WG2 – Meetings 56 and 57 (twice/per year) as follows:

Forward request from SC2 to SC6, per document N3732, asking input and feedback on FCD
Post latest snap shot of the Roadmap (N3652) to SC2 web site.
Updated the World Wide Web site for WG2 and posted an increasing number of documents to the site. The URL is at http://www.dkuug.dk/JTC1/SC2/WG2. Mike Ksar, the convener, is also the web master.
No paper distribution since meetings 40. Documents were available on the web site for downloading and accessing online. WG2 expects that this would be the norm for distributing WG2 documents. Hosting organizations make hard copy of meeting documents available at every meeting, if possible.
Worked proactively with experts and liaison organizations who submitted contributions for inclusion in ISO/IEC 10646:2003, Amendments 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. The next consolidated edition is to include all amendments.
Updated the Principles & Procedures document N3452.
Proposals for future WG2 meetings:
Announce publication of amendment 6 by ITTF.
Process FDAM 7 in JTC1
Process FPDAM 8 in SC2.
Process FCD – 2nd edition of ISO/IEC 10646 that includes all amendments since the first edition publication on 2003-12-15.
Update the Roadmaps of 10646
Update Principles & Procedures
Review additional contribution experts of national bodies, liaison organizations and others.
All above requests were considered and approved at SC2 plenary meeting 16 on 2009-10-30.
WG2 continues to work very closely with the following liaison organizations.

· IETF
· SEI – UC Berkeley
In addition, WG2 has worked very closely with the following working groups but no official liaison exists between them and WG2.

· ISO/TC46/SC2
· SC22 – Programming Languages
· ECMA TC39 - Scripting & Programming Languages
The average number of recipients of WG2 documents is about 100. Their national bodies or individuals that are linguistic and/or technical experts on coding technology nominate them. The number of attendees, representing about 19 national bodies, 3 liaison organizations and 18 affiliations, is now steady at an average of 35 people per meeting. There are approximately 200 technical experts who actively provide input to our working group.
